This book aims to be a form of "Theory for Dummies" book you will not be embarrassed to be seen reading in public. The text may be a concise, grab bag assortment of semiotics and cultural theory for graphic designers. within the place of the cartoons you will find in books like Introducing Semiotics, however, Visible Signs is full of photos and examples organized in enticing layouts.
While a number of the visual examples are useful, several exist primarily as signifiers of style.
